About Us
Background
Abacus Project Services Ltd was founded in 1992 (from a previous partnership established in 1975) with our head offices in Brentwood, Essex, and a branch office in central London.
The company comprises three directors and has on average 17 other technical and administrative staff split between the Brentwood and London offices. The majority of our technical staff hold professional qualifications in quantity surveying and/or project management.
Abacus Residential Services Ltd
Following the appointment of a specialist (Michael Morter) in providing professional services for Registered Social Landlords, Abacus Residential Services Ltd was founded in April 2002.
Since its incorporation, Abacus Residential Services Ltd has provided professional services for six leading housing associations on over 1000 dwellings.
Our People
The Abacus Group's client base is genuinely pan-sector and all of our personnel work in most of these areas in any one year. We have successfully managed all the differing factors that impact uniquely upon such projects, for instance, time, resource, funding, technical feasibility, programme restriction and specialist contracts needs. The procurement strategy therefore varies enormously on each sector and this is where we add value to our residential projects.
Management Team
- Chief Executive: Gary Shaffer
Gary is responsible for the overall strategic management and direction of the company.
As founder of the company, he has extensive experience in working with Main Contractors and subcontractors, and an in-depth understanding of the requirements and dynamics of the construction industry.
- Director: Michael Morter, BSc (Hons) MRICS MAPM
Since becoming a Chartered Surveyor in 1986, Michael has directly provided professional services to over twenty different Registered Social Landlords, delivering many thousands of affordable homes. As well as having management responsibility for the Residential team, Michael is very much a hands-on surveyor, running projects from inception to completion.
